2nd STUDENT COMPETITION FOR SUSTAINABLE ARCHITECTURE

This second session of the Student Competition for sustainable architecture - as the first competition spent in 2007-2008 - is organized in the framework of the European program GAUDI and the network 12 Leading European Universities on Sustainable Architecture, with the support of EU Culture 2000 and the Ministère de la Culture et de la communication.
The exhibition of the results of the first Competition will be presented at la Cité de l’architecture & du Patrimoine from the 28th of April till the 31th of May.
Subject of the competition 2009-2010
URBAN LOFT
“A working and living space in the densified city”
Students will propose a project of the expansion of an existing urban building, by justifying the choice of a real site.
The principle criteria of the jury will be:
- architectural quality, urban impact
- energy zero at lowest grey energy level (transport-infrastructure-recycling
- carbon zero
- low cost economy
The competition is open to all student registered in a European Architecture School or university in 2008/2009.
Extra-european students can participate to the competition only if they are enrolled in a school or university of architecture located in European Union.
Inscriptions are opened on website of the Gaudi competition.
Planning of the competition:
October 2008: Launch of the competition / September 30, 2009: Submission / October 2009: Technical Commission and 1st jury round, Cité de l´Architecture, Paris / November 2009: Project-Workshop Top Ten winning teams (structure, materials, energy and emission balance, building performance), 2nd jury round, TFH Berlin / February 2010 : Exhibition-Workshop Grand Ateliers (model, building performance, animation tools, film production) / September 2010: Launch of the EU itinerant exhibition of the results during the International Biennale of Architecture of Venice.
